Research Areas

Some of the classic sedimentary successions, igneous and metamorphic rocks have corpout around Isfahan city which is located within the central Iranian Microcontinent, Sanandaj-Sirjan Metamorphic Zone and Urumieh-Dokhtar Magmatic Arc. These areas have the potential for many mineral resources including Pb, Zn, Cu, Au, and Fe. Moreover, the world-famous Zagros basin (Zagros Fold-Thrust Belt) and Arabian-Eurasian collisional structure zone are located about an hour's drive and provide unlimited opportunities for any fields of research concerning geology.
